President appoints the new members of the Consultative Council for Communities

September 26th 2018, Prishtina - President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, has appointed the new members of the Consultative Council for Communities (CCC).

Mandate of the new members of the Council lasts for two years and comes as a result of a candidacy made by organisations representing the communities and individual applications, nomination sessions within each community and I the end, their appointment by the President of the country.

The Council consists of twenty seven members, representatives of every community of Kosovo, as defined by the Article 12 (6) of the law, as follows:

* Two (2) representatives for each one of the Roma, Egyptian, Ashkali, Montenegrin and Croatian communities.  
* Three (3) representatives of Bosnian and Turkish communities each.
* Five (5) representatives of the Serbian community;
* Three (3) senior Government representatives, appointed by the Ministry or Agency, whose scope of work is of a particular interest to the communities. 

Based on CCC Regulation, within thirty days of the day of appointment of new members, the Council holds its constitutive meeting, which will be chaired by the oldest Council member and elects the Council Presidency from among its members.

The mandate of the Council, as defined by the Article 60 (3) of the Constitution includes:

Offering of a mechanism for a regular exchange between communities and the Government; opportunity for the communities to comment at an early stage  legislative and political initiatives, which may be prepared by the Government, to suggest such initiatives and to request that their viewpoints are included in the relevant programmes and projects.
